Maria Rita Pinto, Donatella Diano - Personal Name;

Today the scientific research on the theme of railways poses many questions, which differ considerably according to the observed context. In metropolises the main question is the interaction between the railway junctions and the urban area, while in the inner areas of Peninsula the problem regards the decommissioned or underused railway lines. The involved socio-economic interests, the different conditions of the local communities and the current legal provisions require a multi-key approach, declined in relation to the landscape, urban and building design. The skills in the Recovery Technology allow facing the complexity of the theme with a systemic approach, able to identify resources, relationships, needs and constraints, to develop diversified intervention strategies. The design culture of recovery plays a central role in defining a virtuous development model, capable of attributing new functions and qualities to the settlement contexts. The control of the project’s variables opens up to a new dynamic meaning of the station system’s life cycle and of the resources’ networks in the enhancement process of the territory.
